How to Get Super Fit While Relaxing
Dear Friend,
Go into any gym in the world and take a look
at the people who are "straining" and "struggling"
to get fit.
One thing is for certain, if they're straining - in most
cases, they probably aren't fit.
Tis a paradox, isn't it?
Those who ARE fit don't strain or struggle. They
simply move.
The same holds true in sports, martial arts and
any other endeavor. I've often told people that
I can judge a combat man's skill level with a
quick glance at him while he trains. And it's
almost always true.
What does this have to do with exercise? A lot.
One of the things you'll note about all the exercises I teach
in Combat Abs
as well as in Combat Conditioning is that
my muscles are never flexed. My face is always relaxed ...
and my body is, too.
Why is this?
Couple of reasons:
1. When your body and face are relaxed, your body can
get more done. Babies have more energy than any adult.
They are also a lot more relaxed than we are.
2. When you relax you breathe deeper and more fluidly.
This brings in additional oxygen, and the added oxygen
helps rev up the metabolism - turning you into a butter-
burning machine.
3. When you are relaxed while engaged in a combat
sport or martial art, peripheral vision is not only greater -
but your ability to quicky and readily react to whatever
comes your way is significantly enhanced. Truth be told,
at the highest levels of awareness, the combat man can
feel the attack coming before it is launched.
4. If you are relaxed while you do your body weight
exercises, you will understand the truth of being able
to simultaneously increase strength, endurance and
flexibility. Other program cannot do all three at once.
Now, when it comes to the Farmer Burns Stomach
Flattener as taught in Combat Abs - there appears to
be a contradiction because you breathe deeply and
then tense and contract your abdominals. How then is
this 'relaxing' while training?
Good question. And the answer is that you tense the
abdominal muscles while staying relaxed.
Huh? Doesn't make sense?
Okay, let me 'splain it to ya.
Next time a baby grasps your finger, make a mental note.
Ask yourself, "Is the baby flexing his or her entire body
while grabbing your finger? Or is he only using the muscles
that are NEEDED to grab the finger?"
Chew on this one for a spell and you'll understand what I
mean.
Well, my friend, tis all for now.
Kick butt - take names!
